Over the past 30+ years, I’ve led five nonprofit organizations as executive director. I’ve seen the good, the bad, the ugly, and the life-changing.
I learned a lot of lessons the hard way. And yes, I made more than a few mistakes on my own journey.
When I was first a new executive director, I stepped into a shitstorm. The board was absent. Money was hemorrhaging. There was no roadmap or manual. I was alone, isolated, and felt unsupported in my first executive director role. The 2008 financial crisis only compounded the chaos.

The frequency of sessions will be customized to your retainer package, but the most common approach is two to four hour-long sessions per month.
