The Fixer Method:
Step 1: Diagnose
The first part of getting you results is getting a clear idea of the problem. Sometimes it’s simple and obvious, but usually there is a root cause your organization has not diagnosed on your own. In this phase, I quickly help you figure out what's broken or sub-optimal so we can fix it.

Kick-off call
Our kick-off call will focus on identifying and prioritizing your top pain points. We’ll also start to inventory your organization’s assets, opportunities for growth, key stakeholders, and goals for our work together. During this process, I’ll begin building out your custom step-by-step plan, which will guide our work going forward.
In-depth assessment
To dig deeper into how we’ll solve your problems, I’ll use diagnostic tools including proprietary assessment forms, interviews with team members and key stakeholders, and other resources as appropriate. The assessment process is highly customized to ensure we capture the full context of your challenges and available assets so we can set appropriate goals and create the most effective strategies.
Step 2: Dig In
We immediately aim all our collective energy into unpacking the problem and assessing whether it is a mindset challenge, a toolset challenge, or a skillset challenge. Then we set goals and create the plan of action.

Goal setting for engagement
In the final stage of our start-up process, we’ll define clear goals for our consulting work together. We’ll also develop a step-by-step map for how we will accomplish those goals. Alongside our implementation sessions, your custom plan will also guide you in benefiting from the world-class curriculum, tools, and training that are all part of the Nonprofit Fixer approach.
Implementation sessions
We’ll create a cadence of regular implementation sessions, including who should attend and how often. The frequency of sessions will be customized to your retainer package, but the most common approach is two to four hour-long sessions per month. The implementation sessions are built around creating forward progress and momentum, while also creating space for problem-solving as challenges or fresh needs arise.
Accountability systems
In between sessions, you’ll have specific homework that will move your team toward the goals we’ve set in a way that is not overwhelming. You’ll get guidance on the tools and tactics to use, so you’re moving forward with intention and strategy—rather than trying everything and ending up scattered and ineffective. Our cadence of implementation sessions provide build-in accountability and feedback mechanisms. If you or your team struggle to complete a task or tactic, we’ll dig into why and then identify the missing pieces that will enable your organization to move forward.
Step 3: Deliver
Now comes the most exciting part: We implement and deliver on our step-by-step plan to get your board functioning, increase revenue, or get your systems running smoothly. This is where there is a huge smile on your face!

Consulting is about getting specific results for specific deliverables, and can be with one person or a group of people (team, board, etc.).
I sometimes say training is showing you how to fish. Consulting is me giving you the fish. Coaching is helping you become the best fisherman you’ve ever been.
