Consulting with
The Nonprofit Fixer Framework

There are three main areas included in Nonprofit Leadership. I focus on all three in my consulting or coaching packages.

Fundraising, Boards, and Leadership.

My Nonprofit Fixer Framework helps you and your organization tackle all three areas with powerful interventions, tools, coaching, support, courses, curriculum, and 24/7 support. The Framework boils board service down to 4 Ms (Members, Meetings, Money, Mission).

Boards are notorious for having multiple problems. 1) Lack of engagement and participation, 2) Dysfunction and not staying in their lane, and 3) Poor meetings and division of responsibility. My framework allows us to tackle all three.

  • First, we will address the Members of the board. I’ll show you how to recruit, retain, and remove board members and get the right people in the right roles.

  • Then we’ll address the Meetings where 90% of board activity takes place. Together, we’ll make meetings joyful and productive.

  • We will then address the Money they oversee. Boards pass budgets, track budgets, and resource those budgets.

  • Finally, the Mission is paramount. All decisions are filtered through the mission. Decisions are not made based on culture, history, fads, cost, or what the founders want. Every decision is based on what will further the mission.

  • Boards are made up of people. This means we must recruit, retain, and sometimes remove members. I give you the tools to do this.

    • You will get clearer on your values, mission, culture, and commitment

    • You’ll have a strategy for building your board instead of just randomly recruiting people

    • You’ll understand proper division of labor on the board and between the board and staff.

    • You’ll get tools that codify this (Job descriptions, graphics)

    • You’ll appreciate the value of and be able to implement a strong board orientation.

    • You’ll get a powerful tool that will help recruit, retain, and remove board members…all in one document.

    • Once the work of recruiting is done, I'll show you how to retain people forever. We’ll navigate conflict and morale. We'll get the right people in the right roles and will discuss the key elements to get people to stay.  (Mission +people. Training +fun)

    • We will discuss rapport, having fun, and relationship-building. People come for the mission, but they stay for the relationships.

    • And then, because sometimes things don't work out, I'll show you how to remove board members.

    • I’ll show you how training can be a retention tool. People love to learn, and it makes meetings more enjoyable.

  • I'll show you my special formula for meeting success, including using committees and board meeting agendas. We'll also explore an innovative approach to board and executive director partnership that you may not have encountered before.

    • You’ll learn how to schedule board meetings and agendas to get better engagement.

    • You’ll create a structure for meetings so people treat them seriously.

    • You'll create guidelines and best practices for effective meetings.

    • You’ll create and delegate tasks to committees, making the work more manageable.

    • You’ll learn how to engage the executive director in board meetings so that everyone feels valued and respected.

    • You’ll learn how to evaluate all of this.

  • Boards are responsible for passing a budget and resourcing that budget while also providing due diligence.

    • You’ll learn your legal and moral obligations to the public, the government, and your stakeholders.

    • You’ll learn best practices for passing a budget.

    • You’ll learn how to supervise the financials measured against that budget.

    • And most of all, you’ll learn the board’s role in fundraising and get a suite of tools to help your board fundraise. (Policies, structures, tools, templates, and training).

Fundraising can be mastered by moving through 7 Ps:

Together, I will show you how to craft a powerful Pitch so that you raise money with every conversation. Then we’ll decide which method you aim your Pitch at the public. Your fundraising method is your Platform. Then we’ll decide which People you are fundraising with and from. Next, we’ll write this all down in a Plan of who does what by when.

We will then ensure you have the right Policies to create standards, structure and consistency. My favorite step is helping your people shift Perspective (the mindset) toward fundraising. Finally, I’ll help you Practice it all, so you have a fine-tuned fundraising machine.

    • You will complete an Asset Inventory Assessment to determine the strengths and challenges of your fundraising operations and assets. This will clarify your current state and assets, allowing us to set goals. We will assess a wide variety of fundraising methods and find out which ones are best for you, given your assets and interests.

    • We’ll evaluate each existing fundraising practice and find improvements

    • We’ll review a large list of fundraising options and narrow it down to prioritize 3-5 top revenue streams. (grants, corporate, events, earned income, individual donors (membership, monthly, and major donors), digital, and other forms

    • You’ll craft a powerful pitch and how to pivot it to different audiences

    • Clarify mission, vision, values, and theory of change to be “funder-ready.”

    • Case for support , Storytelling, and unique alue proposition (and other methods of pitching). Techniques for persuading donors and the public.

    • I’ll show you creative metrics to wow your donors and how to conduct research before a major donor visit.

  • We will decide who your ideal donor is and then set priorities for your fundraising. You’ll know how to find donors the way the experts do.

    • You will learn the cycle of donor cultivation and how to maximize long-term giving. We will discuss master-level retention activities.

    • We will enlist people in your work to help you reach those ideal donors and create a division of labor so you don't feel alone.

    • You’ll understand the board’s role and how to ignite their fundraising potential. You will implement a Give/Get policy and board job descriptions. You will have board training, orientation, a board agreement, and a development committee.

We’ll discuss what kind of staff support you'll need as you grow and how to hire and/or enlist a development director, your executive director, grant writer and bookkeeper, treasurer, digital and design support, and the chair of your Development Committee.

    • You’ll write a plan of who does what by when.

    • We will do a crisis communications exercise so you can mitigate any public threat to your organization that would cripple your fundraising in the future. Item description

    • We will look through critical policies your organization should have in place Item description

    • We will help you practice all that you learned above.

Coaching Packages

Coaching is about helping you be the best leader and professional you can be. It’s about personal and professional transformation. Schedule a discovery call.
I recommend 6 or 12-month packages for the best results.

  1. Choose Private Coaching if you want a discreet, confidential thought partner who will challenge you, push you, and support you in improving your mindset, skillset, and tool set. I will help you clarify your goals and values, and strengthen your confidence in your abilities. We will take inventory, then set goals and work toward them. Coaching can feel like consulting at times because I will give you advice, and you will get tools to help you succeed. I strongly suggest a 6- or 12-month package, as real transformation takes at least 6 months. Choose the 3-month package only if money is a significant constraint. If you need accelerated results, we can work weekly instead of bi-weekly, thereby compressing the packages into a shorter timeframe. Price stays the same either way. Coaching is less about measurable ROI and more about growth and confidence - and sometimes discretion.

  2. Choose Group Coaching for a very affordable, but valuable group community experience. You receive all the courses, tools, resources, and additional Slack support, but no private 1:1 coaching. This is the best value if you don’t need 1:1 accelerated or deep confidential support. Click here to learn more about my Fixer Fellowship Group Coaching Program.

Retainer Package Explanation

Consulting with me is done through a Retainer Package. Retainer clients don’t hire me for hours — they secure priority access to a seasoned nonprofit strategist to help them solve problems, seize opportunities, and move faster than they could alone. When you commit to a 6-month retainer, you’re reserving dedicated capacity in my schedule and locking in preferred pricing.

Benefits of a retainer:

A Retainer Package locks in priority access to me at a preferred rate by committing to a 6-month engagement. You can pay upfront for the best pricing or monthly.

Retainer clients are prioritized over new clients — regardless of size — and work directly with me, never an assistant or subcontractor. As my rates increase, retainer clients receive special pricing consideration.

This is flexible, not project-bound. Use our time for whatever you need: fundraising, board development, startups, communications, management, volunteer strategy, and more. We can focus on board offerings, fundraising strategy, or fully customize to your priorities.

Retainers allow us to build a trusted, long-term relationship that accelerates results. You’ll have guaranteed access across text, Slack, Zoom, calls, or Voxer — making it feel like I’m part of your team.

  • Direct donor solicitation is not included in any consulting package.

  • Need accelerated results? I offer a VIP Day Rate = $8,000 - Anything you need for up to 7 hours.

  • You can add 24/7 Slack support to any package for $2500 for 6 months.

Training Services (Live and on-demand)

Custom trainings for teams or boards, schedule a discovery call.

Choose training if you want a distinct knowledge transfer to your team. Training is typically between 1 hour and one day. If you want ongoing training throughout the year, we can build a customized training package.

  • On-demand, pre-recorded training is only available for existing clients.

*How consultants and coaches bring value that may not be obvious

When you work with me, you’re not just hiring an expert — you’re buying a lifetime of nonprofit leadership experience. After 34+ years in the sector, I don’t just offer advice. I offer shortcuts without cutting corners.

You benefit from decades of judgment: the ability to assess, diagnose, and prescribe what will actually work. That comes from successes, failures, lessons learned, and constant self-improvement — not theory.

I’ve built a deep network of trusted relationships over the course of my career. My calls get returned. My clients get access. Reputation becomes currency.

My education (Political Science + MPA), ongoing training, and daily reading of sector research mean you don’t have to sift through it all — I've already done that. I simplify complexity into clear decisions and practical next steps.

I move fast because mastery moves fast. Like Picasso’s famous napkin sketch — it may take minutes to deliver, but it took a lifetime to earn.

I’ve done the work I recommend. I create original tools and content. I follow the law, respect intellectual property, and don’t cut corners or recycle outdated ideas.
